Thread lift: a gentle method for facial rejuvenation
A thread lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. During this procedure, special threads are inserted into the skin to lift and support sagging tissue. The threads also stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, leading to further improvement in skin texture and appearance. The result is a natural lifting effect without surgery.

For which areas is the thread lift suitable?

- Forehead and eyebrows
- Cheeks and cheekbones
- Jawline and neck
- Decolletage
- Abdomen, thighs, and buttocks
Advantages of a thread lift
A thread lift offers numerous advantages over traditional surgical facelifts. Since it is a minimally invasive procedure, no incisions or scars are required, resulting in a significantly shorter recovery time. Patients are usually able to return to social activities quickly.
The results look natural, as the face retains its facial expressions and expressiveness. Additionally, the thread lift promotes collagen production, which improves skin structure in the long term. This method is also versatile and can be combined with other aesthetic treatments to achieve optimal results.

Questions and Answers
The threads used in thread lifts are made of materials that can be safely broken down by the body. The most commonly used materials are polydioxanone (PDO), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), and polycaprolactone (PCL). The Silhouette® brand PLLA threads used in our practice contain particularly effective barbs, known as cones. All materials used are biocompatible and have been used in surgery for many years.
The duration of the results of a thread lift depends on the threads used and individual factors such as skin type and age. PDO threads, which are used most frequently, dissolve in about 6 months, but the lifting effect can last up to 12 months because collagen production is stimulated. PLLA threads have a longer lifespan and can remain effective for up to 18 months. PCL threads offer the longest durability and can show an effect for up to 24 months. Duration and results depend on the current condition of the skin and may vary.
After a thread lift, there are some important guidelines to follow to ensure optimal results and avoid complications. It is advisable to avoid strong facial expressions and strenuous physical activities for about a week. Sleep on your back to minimize pressure on the treated area. If necessary, the treated areas can be cooled to reduce swelling and bruising. You should also avoid massages and cosmetic facial treatments for a few weeks.
Although thread lifts are considered safe, side effects and complications can occur, as with any aesthetic treatment. These include swelling and bruising, pain or discomfort at the injection sites, as well as asymmetry or irregularities in the skin’s appearance. In rare cases, infections or allergic reactions may occur, and the threads could be visible or shift out of place.
In certain cases, a thread lift may not be the best option. It is less suitable for severe skin sagging that might require a surgical facelift. Likewise, individuals with certain skin conditions or infections, as well as allergies to the thread materials used, should refrain from this procedure. A thread lift is also not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or in cases of general health issues that could increase the risk of complications.
